Back at it...finishing the last room in the basement

I haven't posted in awhile because we haven't been doing much to the House on Hilltop Farm except stuffing it full from the other house.  I can't remember if I told you, but our theory was to live in one room in the basement and take everything else from the other house and put it upstairs in the new house.  Well....just how are we going to work on building upstairs if we have a bunch of stuff in our way?  So, we are still moving our stuff from the other house,

but we are trying to cram it all in the basement of our new house, except for the part we are living in.  It's not working out too well.  {sigh}
We do have one more room to finish in the basement, and we have finally started on it.  Thing is, it's not really a "room" per se'.  It's the area you walk into when you are walking down the stairs, from the upstairs.  It has a lot of doors that lead to all of the other rooms in the basement.

There was discussion between drywall or osb for the walls.  OSB won.

This corner above is going to get a closet.   For now it will hold Dave's work clothes, hunting clothes, work boots, etc.  Later...who knows.
Behind this door to the right is a pantry.  It held all of Dave's tools for working in the basement, but now that we're down to one room, and we need the space, he's cleaned it out and I'm using it for overflow.

So here we are folks....back at it!

Moving and the last two weeks!

Ok so I realize I haven't blogged for a long time.  There is a reason.  I am going to attempt to explain and get all caught up in this one post.  On September 22, we moved into the one room in the basement of our house on Hilltop Farm....the one I have been blogging about on this very blog.  I realized right away I needed help, so I called in the troops.  Mom & Dad!
We started moving stuff in and they started cleaning.  (You can read more about that on my other blog by clicking here)

So we moved what we needed to live in one room in the basement.

And here we are living in the basement, no tv, no internet, and the fog rolls in and I felt VERY ISOLATED.

But life in the basement goes on.
We decided I needed a shelf between the two cabinets so Dave built me one...
and I went to a local coffee shop to blog...
and work on boxing stuff up and cleaning in the house in town that we left in a big mess. So far I have one bathroom done and half a bedroom.
And I did a tiny bit of halloween decorating....
and finally on Saturday I got wifi!
and more shelves!!!  It's starting to look and feel like a home.
and every night poor lil' Dixie would just cry in his cage so we made him and Winston a bed on the floor at the end of our bed.  They sleep through the night now and don't cry and I love it.
And my man is the only man I know that can spend days on end building a coat closet...

but it's starting to look good and feel like home.
And I love it!

Washer, Dryer, Cleaning

We have been working hard these last few days.

The bathroom is finished!

We (Dave) hooked up the washer and dryer this weekend. First he had to get them moved from our garage, to the walk-out basement.

The dryer wasn't a problem. He hooked it to the dolly and showed me he could even roll it with one hand!

The washing machine was a bit heavier.

With our neighbors help

he got it done.

Is that a bunch of 'orbs' in that picture? Hmmm, just now noticed that.

He got them both hooked up, and even did a load of laundry!

The last thing we had to do was hook up the hot water. It's done. I even took a shower the other day after working hard in the bee yard all day long.

Now this room, somehow, ended up getting all cluttered up again. And it needed a good cleaning. Spiders, cobwebs, drywall dust, etc.

My cousin, Gloria, said she'd come over and help me again. So we planned on cleaning on Monday. In the meantime, I have been working hard in the bee yard.

And Dave decided to bring out some patio furniture.

Monday came, and so did Gloria!

She's yelling at me through the window to get that bug off of it...

This woman is crazy about cleaning. You can just see how much she enjoys it.

I told her to come back in six months and clean under the vanity again, because it will need it! Who does that? I mean, I like it clean, but I don't like doing it. We worked hard all day long...and here are the results.

(yes we are missing one of our sconce lights. She knocked it off the wall cleaning it - teehee - I told her to calm down....good thing I'm married to an electrician. Rather than standing on the ladder holding the light all day, I unhooked the wire nuts and took the light down!)

Ready to move into!

Cute touch with the doily Gloria!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!
